Privacy policy

Version 1.1. In effect from 16 October 2026 (last updated: 16 October 2026).

This policy explains what personal data is received when you use nias.org.il, why, where it is stored and what your rights are. It is written under the Israeli Protection of Privacy Law, 5741-1981, as amended by Amendment No. 13.

1. Who is responsible for the data

The database controller is New Israel Association of Sciences (R.A.), registered non-profit association (amuta) No. 580813079 ("NIAS" or "the Association").
Address: 1 Yigal Mossinson St., Netanya 4223980, Israel.
Privacy enquiries: info@nias.org.il.

2. What the website does not collect

The website has no forms, no registration and no personal area for visitors. It has no third-party analytics or advertising tools and no content embedded from other websites, such as videos or maps. Fonts are loaded from the website's own server.

3. Server logs

Like any website, the server automatically records technical details of each request: IP address, date and time, the requested address, the page you came from, browser and operating system type, and the server response code.

  • Why: running and protecting the website, troubleshooting, investigating intrusion attempts, and general visit statistics produced by the server itself, without cookies.
  • How long: up to 12 months, after which the logs are deleted.
  • Who sees them: the website's hosting and maintenance provider, acting on behalf of the Association and on its instructions.

We do not use the logs to identify visitors, except when needed to investigate a security incident or when required by law.

4. Cookies

The website uses only the cookies it needs to work:

CookiePurposeSet for
wp-wpml_current_languageremembers the website language you chosevisitors
wordpress_test_cookie, wordpress_logged_in_*, wordpress_sec_*signing in to the admin areawebsite editors only

These cookies are not used for analytics, advertising or tracking, so the website shows no cookie consent window. You can block cookies in your browser settings; the website will keep working and your language choice stays in the page address. If we add a tool that uses non-essential cookies, we will ask for your consent before turning it on and update this policy.

5. Zoom seminars and links to other websites

The Association's seminars take place on Zoom. The website only contains a link and does not send Zoom any data about you. The link takes you to the service of Zoom Video Communications, Inc. (USA), and your use of it is governed by Zoom's privacy policy. During a seminar, the organisers see the name you chose to display in Zoom. If a seminar is recorded, participants are told so at its start.

The link to materials from previous years leads to netanyascientific.com. That website, like any external website, has its own privacy policy.

6. Email enquiries

If you write to info@nias.org.il, we receive your email address, your name if you gave it, and the content of your message.

  • You are not obliged to write to us or to give more details than needed for a reply. Without an email address we cannot reply.
  • Why: replying to your enquiry and keeping records of the Association's activity.
  • Who sees it: the Association's officers and the website maintenance provider, who forwards the enquiry to the person handling it.
  • How long: as long as needed to handle the enquiry and keep records of the Association's activity.

We will not add your address to a mailing list without your explicit consent.

7. Information about people on the website

Seminar announcements show the speaker's name, academic title and talk topic. A person's name, photo, description or biography appears on the website only with their consent. Anyone mentioned on the website who wants information about them corrected or removed can write to info@nias.org.il.

8. Where the data is stored

The website server, server logs, the info@nias.org.il mailbox, and encrypted backups are hosted at a dedicated facility of the hosting provider in the European Union (Germany, Hetzner Online GmbH), in a state ensuring an adequate level of data protection under regulation 2(8) of the Protection of Privacy (Transfer of Data to Databases Abroad) Regulations, 5761-2001 (תקנות הגנת הפרטיות (העברת מידע אל מאגרי מידע שמחוץ לגבולות המדינה), תשס"א-2001). Enquiries sent to info@nias.org.il are processed through the website's mail server and forwarded to authorised representatives of the Association's secretariat and technical service solely for the purpose of replying to the enquiry.

9. Data security

Connections to the website are encrypted (HTTPS). Access to website management is limited to authorised officers, each with a personal account and two-step sign-in. The website is updated and backed up regularly. We follow the Protection of Privacy (Data Security) Regulations, 5777-2017.

10. Your rights

Under sections 13 and 14 of the Protection of Privacy Law, you may review the information about you that we hold and ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, incomplete, unclear or out of date. To find an entry in the server logs, we will need the IP address and time of your visit.

Send your request to info@nias.org.il or by post to the address in section 1. If you are not satisfied with the reply, you may contact the Privacy Protection Authority at the Israeli Ministry of Justice.

11. Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we will publish a new version on this page with a new effective date.
